Once you have setup GPRS on your phone, you may
download AnjalTest from http://www.murasu.com/mobile/test.wml. Please check with your
phone vendor or mobile operator on how to activate GPRS on your
phones. Note that data charges (though minimal) may apply for GPRS access. There is no charge for AnjalTest.
The images below
show the download process step by step. It is assumed that you
have activated GPRS on your phone. The exact menus and screens may
vary - even among Nokia phones. The steps below gives you an idea on
how to download Java applications. The process is exactly the same
as that of Java games.
MIDP Specifications
MIDP is an abbreviation for Mobile
Internet Device Profile. It a specification that describes the
required features in a mobile phone that includes Java technology.
Two versions of the profile exist today, 1.0 and 2.0. The
older phones (first generation Java phones) comply to MIDP 1.0
specification while most of the new ones are MIDP 2.0.
AnjalMobile requires MIDP 2.0 phones to send and receive SMS
messages in Tamil. The older Java phones can still be used to
compose and send email messages in Tamil (requires GPRS to be
activated). Some of the older ones also include the
capabilities the make Tamil chat possible.
Note that phones that do not
include Java cannot run AnjalTest or AnjalMobile.
